The Pearly Shells big band go back to their RnB roots on their new CD Belmar sessions , describing it as ….“John Lee Hooker and Ray Charles go to visit Count Basie in heaven but get off at the wrong tram stop”Recorded at Belmar studios in Altona, the Belmar sessions were done the old fashioned way, direct to tape, up right piano on wooden a floor, the band playing live and loose in close quarters with a minimual of digital interference.

Recorded mostly live at Belmar studio, the tracks have that warm organic sound enthusiasts would know from the classic period of the 40’s and 50’s. Just to make sure, they ran everything through an old Kriesler valve radio gram when it was finished. “Its on CD, but we wanted to make it sound like you’re listening to vinyl” Guests include Julie O’Hara , Kerri Simpson and Emma Franz.
